I’m pleased to announce a new release of BEgallery, specifically for Blogengine 2.5. Lots of you asked for this release, and I finally found the time to develop it. In this release there are also some features from our roadmap, like page support(!) and an updated Highslide release.

I also introduced a new download / support page for this release. The other information and support pages are also updated. So there are separate pages for Blogengine 1.x, 2.0 and 2.5. I will update the 1.x and 2.0 releases shortly so they also support pages.

Published a new HDR gallery of my trip to Moscow. Also updated the Skylark Photography site to enable projects like this one.

I spend almost two days exploring the city. These photos are the result of this exploration captured in High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography.

The gallery shows The Kremlin, Red Square, St Basil's Cathedral, Peter the Great statue, Iskusstv Park, and the All-Russia Exhibition Center in the Northern part of the city.

Future release

We fixed another bug in the Photo upload routine. I’ll advice all BEgallery users to install this hotfix, also if your environment is working fine.

In November the release candidate of the 2.0 of blogengine was announced. We tested the BEgallery software and it’s not compatible. Download a special Blogengine 2.0 setup to incorporate BEgallery in the 2.0 release (released Januari 1st).

Thanks to Jan Schutte another bug was noticed in the BEgallery software.

The bug, a typo in the mime type detection, could prevent you from uploading jpg files into BEgallery, displaying an error message.

This bug is present in the v1.0 download and the hotfix. Both are now fixed, so download them again to fix problem you may have with uploading jpg’s.

On some systems or ISPs there are problems with photo uploads. Creating an album goes as planned, but when you try to upload a photo, a 500 internal server error is raised. On some systems an Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' is thrown.

To fix this problem, download the hotfix.

I’m planning a new release in the new future. If you have request, please let me know and I will look into it.

To further explore HDR photography I combined it with some urban exploring in a abandoned coal mine, washing plant and coking plant. This massive complex is called Zollverein located in Essen Germany. Well in fact it’s not really abandoned since it is now home of the Ruhr Museum.

The museum is located in the former washing plant, with many of the machinery still in place. The huge coking plant ceased operation in 1993 and didn’t change since. Nature is slowly retaking the plant, a great photo opportunity!

Finally, after testing in the real world for several months, BEgallery is ready for download.

BEgallery is a gallery extension (duh) for Blogengine.net 1.4 and up. It integrates the excellent Highslide JS thumbnail viewer, by Torstein Hønsi, seamless in Blogengine.net.
