China: The Lost Polaroids

Monday, 9 August 2010 15:56 by go*

Cleaning out the basement I found some Polaroids I made in China back in the days. Well, not really, but that was the idea for a photo series.

The photos were made during two trips I made to China in 2005 en 2009. Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tongli, Ping An and Yangzhou provided the scenery.

HDR Urban Photography: Zollverein

Sunday, 16 May 2010 13:13 by go*

To further explore HDR photography I combined it with some urban exploring in a abandoned coal mine, washing plant and coking plant. This massive complex is called Zollverein located in Essen Germany. Well in fact it’s not really abandoned since it is now home of the Ruhr Museum.

The museum is located in the former washing plant, with many of the machinery still in place. The huge coking plant ceased operation in 1993 and didn’t change since. Nature is slowly retaking the plant, a great photo opportunity!

Sunday, 18 October 2009 13:17 by go*

Just returned from a 2,5 week trip through the US for AviaMagazine. Amongst the almost 3000 photo’s I did some experimenting with high dynamic range photography (HDR). When conditions are good (which means some great cloud base for instance) results can be stunning.
